Wonders of space.

Saturn is our second largest planet in our system. Saturn has the brightest rings in our system. Saturn is ten times bigger than Earth. Saturn rings are thousand of miles wide.  Saturn has 60 moons orbiting it.

Saturn has  recently been dwarfed by a new planet named J1407b.  J1407b has rings that are 200 times the size of Saturn's. If we were to replace Saturn's rings with J1407b's we would be able to see the rings during the day.

J1407b is called a brown dwarf. J1407b is between the size of a planet and a star. J1407b is quite hot, but doesn't explode like a star.

Walk for life: Every life is a gift.

On January 22, 2015 Walk for life held its 42nd walk in Washington D.C. This march and rally are held on the anniversary of the Supreme Court Case Roe vs. Wade that ruled that abortion is legal.
Thousands went out on to the streets in protest of abortion and pleading for it to become illegal.
The theme for this year was Every life is a gift,
Speakers at the march included members of Congress,  Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, R-Washington; Rep. Chris Smith, R-New Jersey; Rep. Daniel Lipinski, D-Illinois, and Sen. Tim Scott, R-South Carolina.




People gathered in the Mall holding multitudes of signs showing their disgust for abortion.

Of course not everyone agrees.



The fight continues still with a bill banning late-term abortions was postponed on Thursday

Final exam part two. Ferguson

On August 9, Michael Brown, an unarmed black teenager, was shot and killed by officer Darren Wilson. Officer Wilson was not indited for the shooting and it caused an uproar, leading to rioting in the streets. A lot of the reasoning behind the rioting is the believe that this was an attack on the race by police. Whether or not that this is the case can be debated, but not like this. Rioting was a poor decision on their parts. 

There are many other ways to protest or debate this issue and rioting is the exact opposite of what should have been done.

The rioting was not only destroying the city, but also their voice in the matter. 

How can they expect to be listened to when they are breaking the law. 

Destroying homes and business. Destroying others property. 

stealing. arson.

None of this changes anything. not  the stealing, not the fires. 

A voice of reason should have been present, but no one stop to think that maybe this was not the way to go. 

Look at the peaceful walk through Paris in memory of those killed in the shooting.

Peaceful protest and memorials. This is what they should have done instead of rioting if they felt they had to do something. 

Final exam part three. Paris attack

On Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015 there was an attack on the newspaper Charlie Hebdo in Paris, France that left 12 people dead. Charlie Hebdo is not unfamiliar with threats. It has been attacked before and receives threats daily. Charlie Hebdo is a magazine that publishes some dark humor covers that can depict religious leaders in unflattering lights. French police identified Cherif Kouachi, left, and his brother Said Kouachi, along with 18-year-old Hamyd Mourad, as suspect in shooting.

In memory of those lost in the attack, foreign leaders, arm in arm, led french citizens in a march through Paris on January 11th. Paris has become more united in this tragedy and I would feel safe to go to Paris. Everyone is on high alert and with this a specific attack I would feel safe.

Republicans

Republicans were predicted to win due to the typical midterm voters being mostly older republicans and due to the declining popularity of the president. Republicans won majority for the first time in many years. 

School wide sick day

At Niagara Catholic today, school was canceled due to a good portion of the staff and students either being out sick or   becoming sick. 60 of the students either were out sick or went home sick during the day on Wednesday. By the end of the day 12 teachers at called in sick for the next day as well. Being such as small school meant that 60 students is about 1/4 of the school totals. About half of the students still present were also complaining about cold and flu like symptoms. I know I was coming down with something, but had to come for finals and review for finals. I'm glad that Mr. Bugs made the call to close the school. Not many principals were have made the call. 

Leaky ship..... in space.

This morning U.S. astronauts, Barry Wilmore and  Terry Virts had to evacuate the American section on the International Space Station to the Russian section due to an alarm announcing that there was a possible leak in the cooling system. Wilmore and Virts are safe and the American segment is off limits till the source of the alarm is found.They don't think it likely that there is an actual leak, more likely a faulty sensor. As of 11:10, no leak has been confirmed, but no one is taking it lightly. The astronauts are going to stay in the Russian area overnight as a precaution.
